PGPD: Victim in Fort Washington fatal accident ID'd

FORT WASHINGTON, Md. (WUSA9) -- Prince George's County Fire Department responded to a serious two car crash in Fort Washington Tuesday evening that left at least one person dead.

According to authorities, the accident happened on Indian Head Highway close to Fort Road in Fort Washington.

Prince George's County Fire Department said there is one confirmed death in this accident. Prince George's County Police Department said, a man was pronounced dead on the scene. The man has been identified as James Fearing, 47, of Reserve Road in Accokeek.

Authorities said, investigation shows that Fearing was going northbound in a SUV on Indian Head Highway when he hit the rear of a car at the intersection of Old Fort Road.

Police said, the SUV left the road and rolled over. The other victim, the driver of the car was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

According to police, investigators are still trying to determine whether or not speed was a factor in the accident.

Route 210 northbound was closed at Farmington and East Swan Creek for the investigation on Tuesday evening.
