Woman injured after being hit by car in Rockville Pike

ROCKVILLE, MD (WUSA9) - ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 28-year-old woman has life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car Tuesday night in the Rockville area, Montgomery County police said.

The crash happened around 7:16 p.m. in the area of Rockville Pike and E. Middle Lane.

Police said the investigation shows that a 2001 Honda Accord driven by a 43-year-old Chevy Chase man was going south on Rockville Pike.

Twenty-eight-year-old Marchelle Lindsey Edwards of Germantown was crossing the Rockville Pike in a western direction at E. Middle Lane when she was hit by the car, police said.

She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. This crash remains under investigation. Police are trying to determine what the traffic signal was showing at the time of the crash and whether or not the woman was in the crosswalk area.
