Patient refuses to take medicine, locks himself in room at PIW

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A patient who did not want to take his medicine late Monday night locked himself inside of a room at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington in Northwest, D.C., Metropolitan police said. 

The incident started around 11:20 p.m. and PIW located at 4228 Wisconsin Ave in Northwest, D.C. 

According to authorities no weapons were involved in the incident. The patient locked himself into a room after he did not want to take his medicine. 

DC Fire and EMS responded to the incident and helped open the door. The incident was resolved around 3 a.m.
