Montgomery County snow emergency lifts at 5:00 p.m.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (WUSA9) -- The snow emergency will be lifted as of 5:00 p.m. today, Montgomery County said.

People will be allowed to park along snow emergency routes. Taxicabs operating in Montgomery County should resume charging normal fares. For today, parking remains free at county-owned lots and garages.

For businesses and residents, the County's snow shoveling law requires property owners to clear sidewalks of snow within 24 hours after the end of a snowfall, officials said.

Officials are also urging residents to take extra caution while driving and to watch for pedestrians who may crossing streets.
