Md. Police arrest 18-year-old for car theft

HANOVER, Md (WUSA9) -- Police arrested an 18-year-old for attempting to steal a car from a parking lot in Hanover, Md. on Tuesday morning.

Anne Arundel County Police responded to a report of a car theft happening in parking lot located at 7550 Teague Rd.

Witnesses said they saw a man, Alex Jacob Jones trying to open doors or several parked cars on the lot, according to police.

Police said, Jones was able to get into one car and started taking items from inside. Several witnesses surrounded Jones and waiting until officers came, police added.

Officers said that Jones was involved in several shoplifting incidents at Arundel Mills Mall on Monday.

Jones was arrested and police found him with nine tablets of oxycodone, a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Jones is being charged with three county of rogue and vagabond, one count of attempted theft, and CDS possession.
