Md. officer's act of kindness helps woman in need

October is Domestic Violence Awareness month and a local officer is being singled out for how he helped one woman in need.

CHARLES COUNTY, MD (WUSA9) - An officer with the Charles County Sheriff's Office helped a woman in need after a domestic violence situation left her stranded earlier this week.

Officer A. Coulby responded to the call and found the woman stranded. According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page, the woman is not from this country and had no family or friends in the area to call for help.

Social Services were called and they made other room arrangements for the woman. However, officials say the woman did not have enough money for a cab.

Officer Coulby not only gave her money for the cab, he also gave her money to buy a few meals and other essentials she would need to get situated.
