Woman in critical condition after Columbia Pike crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Police Department is investigating a serious accident that happened on Columbia Pike Wednesday afternoon and left a 22-year-old woman in critical condition.

Police said the accident happened around 1:18 p.m. on Columbia Pike close to the intersection with Fairland Road.

According to authorities, a black Audi was involved in the accident on eastbound Fairland Road, along with a black Lincoln Navigator on northbound Columbia Pike, and a Saturn Scion on eastbound Fairland Road.

Police said a Jeep Grand Cherokee was going northbound on Columbia Pike and changed lanes. The Jeep came into contact with the Audi, which was also going northbound, authorities said.

The collision caused the cars to glide into the Lincoln, also going northbound. Police said the Audi overturned and hit a Saturn Scion, which stopped at the intersection on westbound Fairland Road at Columbia Pike.

According to officials, the driver of the Audi, Marcelina Maria Cordoba, 22 of Silver Spring, was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

The Lincoln driver, Joselyn Nicole Gamble, 29, of Silver Spring, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police said nobody else was hurt in the accident.

According to authorities, the driver of the Jeep has been identified as Phyllis Nicole Ford, 37, of Baltimore. The driver of the Saturn Scion is Rhonda Munir Eltobigi, 20, of Silver Spring.

The accident is still under investigation.
