Woman dead after fatal hit-and-run in Accokeek, Md.

ACCOKEEK, MD. (WUSA9) - A woman who was walking in the Accokeek area overnight was fatally struck by a car, according to Prince George's County police. The driver did not stay at the scene. 

The fatal pedestrian crash happened around 12:45 a.m. at Indian Head Highway at Farmington Road East, authorities said. 

The victim has been identified as Nefertiti Kemoris Horton, 39, of no fixed address. 

Police said a woman was struck by a car and pronounced dead at the scene. 

The victim was struck while walking on the northbound side of Indian Head Highway. Police are working to determine whether she was on the shoulder or in the roadway when she was struck.

Police believe the striking vehicle has front end damage.
