Woman arrested in bomb threat at Md. courthouse

WESTMINSTER, Md. (WUSA9) -- Maryland State Police Department said they arrested a Md. woman Monday night in connection with a bomb threat at the Carroll County courthouse.

According to authorities, Myra Marcy Baird, 56, of the 4000 block of Woodsmen Drive in Hamstead, Md. was arrested and charged with arson, conspiracy to commit arson and providing a false statement of destructive device.

Authorities said, she is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center and faces up to ten years in jail and up to $10,000 in fines.

A clerk at the District Court of Maryland Carroll County in Westminster got a bomb threat over the telephone Monday morning around 9:30 a.m., authorities said. According to authorities, Baird claimed there was a bomb in the building. The building was evacuated, police said.

The Maryland State Police, Carroll County Sheriff's Office and K-9 Units searched the building for four hours and then reopened the buildings once they were considered safe, police said.

The investigation showed that Baird was the caller. She was arrested Monday night without incident, police said.
