ASPEN HILL, Md. (WUSA9) -- Supporters gathered in Aspen Hill Thursday evening to remember a teenager killed 39 years ago.
Kathy Beatty was only 15 years old when she left her house on the evening of July 24th, 1975. Beatty was found severely beaten in the woods behind the K-Mart in Aspen Hill the next day. She succumbed to her injuries and died eleven days later.
Thirty nine years after her death, Beatty's case remains unsolved.
Pat Haberman, Beatty's mother spoke at Friday's vigil and said "those of us that loved her, wished we knew what happened that fatal night".
The case is still being investigated by Steve Kerpelman, a private investigator, and Frank Colbert of the Montgomery County Police Department.
