Three dead, one injured in Centreville crash

CENTREVILLE, MD (WUSA9) - Three people were killed and another was injured after a two-car crash in Queen Anne’s County, state police said.

Around 3:30 p.m., Maryland State Police responded to a crash along Route 213 near Clanahan Shop Road in Centreville. Two vehicles had crashed along the shoulder in the northbound shoulder.

Early investigation showed that Thomas Mozingo, 20, was driving southbound with Samantha Roark, 21. John Ford, 25, was driving northbound with Amelia Sichler, 25.

Sichler, Roark and Mozingo were all killed in the accident. Ford was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he remains hospitalized.

Witness accounts said Mozingo had just passed a vehicle on the shoulder, moved back into the travel lane, and then attempted to pass the next vehicle on the left in a no passing zone.

Evidence showed that as Ford was approaching northbound, he saw Mozingo trying to pass but tried to avoid the crash by moving to the far right portion of the northbound shoulder.

Despite his efforts, he was struck by Mozingo’s vehicle on the shoulder.

The highway remained closed until around 8 p.m. Saturday evening while authorities investigated. It is unclear at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
