Man uses stolen backhoe to try to break into Md. ATM

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD. (WUSA9) - A suspect stole a backhoe and then used it to try and break into an ATM in District Heights, according to Prince George's County police. 

According to authorities the suspect stole a backhoe on June 1 around 4:30 a.m. and then drove it about five miles to a bank located in the 7500 block of Marlboro Pike. 

The suspect then tried to break into the ATM. Despite his attempts, he was not able to get any money from the ATM, police said. 

Damage costs were however estimated to be about $10,000.
