Suspect arrested in Glen Burnie stabbing

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA 9) -- A 27-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in Glen Burnie on Friday night, said Anne Arundel County Police.

The incident began in Brooklyn Park when an argument started between the victim and the suspect, who has been identified as Joseph John Dumsha, of Pasadena, Maryland.

Police said the victim and a witness left the scene of the argument in a vehicle and were followed by Dumsha. Dumsha attempted to fight the victim at a traffic light, after which he followed them to Browning Court. When the victim got out of his vehicle, Dumsha approached with a knife and stabbed him. Police arrived on the scene at about 7:14 p.m. and said the victim tried to defend himself with a shovel before he was attacked.

Dumsha was arrested and charged with attempted second degree homicide, assault in the first and second degree and reckless endangerment. The victim was driven to the University of Maryland for treatment of his injuries.
