NEW CARROLLTON, MD (WUSA9) - A Prince George's County woman is recovering after she was sexually assaulted by a stranger at knifepoint early Sunday morning.

The sexual assault happened at the Cambridge Apartments around 7 a.m.

Police said the suspect was armed with a knife when he forced his way into an apartment and sexually assaulted the woman.

“With me having a young daughter, I don't feel safe in this neighborhood,” one resident said. “This is my first time hearing about it. I’m shocked that something like that happen here.”

Neighbors said it's a nerve-racking reminder about safety. Prince George's County Police are trying to figure out who did this.

“Be more vigilant around here and patrol the area,” said neighbor Dan Stafford.

“They need to serve justice as far as that because people need to know that's not ok,” the resident said.

The victim is talking with police to try and create a sketch of the suspect.

If you have any information call the Prince George’s County Police Department. They are currently offering a $25,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
