Prince George's Police suspend rookie patrol officer

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md.(WUSA9) -- The Prince George's County Police Department has suspended a rookie patrol officer.

Probationary Officer Shakeya Walker was suspended after being charged with second degree assault, police said.

Walker was off duty when she was involved in a domestic situation which led to the assault, police said.

Walker has been with the department for eight weeks. Walker's powers have been suspended and a Special Investigation Response team is leading an investigation into the incident, police said.

Disciplinary action could lead to termination, police said.
