Police: Suspect who stabbed 19-year-old didn't want to be a dad

We're learning more about the suspect accused of stabbing a pregnant woman in Kensignton, Maryland.

KENSINGTON, MD (WUSA9) - The suspect accused of stabbing a 19-year-old pregnant woman on Tuesday allegedly told police he didn’t want to be a dad.

The 18-year-old named Dakota Brothers is being held on a $5 million bond after being charged with assault and attempted first-degree murder.

According to court documents, he told police he wasn't ready to be a father and had thought about killing the victim and her unborn child.

The 19-year-old stabbing victim said the two had consensual sex in the woods before the attack. She told police Brothers was the father of the baby.

The baby was delivered by emergency C-section, and is in the NICU while the mom remains in critical condition.
