Police search for suspect in Md. Walmart shooting

ELLICOTT CITY, MD. (WUSA9) - Police are searching for a suspect who fired a shot at a Walmart in Ellicott City, Md. early Sunday morning, Howard County police said. 

Around midnight, police responded to the Walmart located in the 3200 block of North Ridge Road for a report of a fight and shot fired inside the store. 

When police arrived, they found a man with a non-fatal gunshot wound. Police said after the altercation with the suspect, the injured man went to his car in the parking lot, got a gun and fire multiple shots towards the store. No one was hit by the gunfire. 

The injured man was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for his wound. 

Witnesses told police the suspect who fired the initial shot in the store fled the scene. 

He is being described as a black man between the age of 20 and 25 years old, about 6 feet tall with a thin build. 

The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information to call 410-313-STOP.
