Police search for Md. Bay Bank suspect

SEVERN, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a bank robbery that happened in Severn Friday afternoon.

Anne Arundel County Police said officers were called from the Western District at 3:35 p.m. to responded to the Bay Bank, located in the 2600 block of Annapolis Road, Severn, for a hold up alarm.

Deputies learned upon their arrival that the bank had just been robbed.

The suspect was described as a black man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, wearing blue jeans, a black knit hat and carrying a black backpack, police said. He is possibly between the ages of 19 and 24 and between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall.

Authorities said the suspect passed a note to the teller demanding money. After he got an undisclosed amount of money, he fled the scene on a small blue bike towards the end of the shopping center.

Deputies found the bike a little later, abandoned in the parking lot of the shopping center.

Officers have been unable to find the suspect at this time. No injuries were reported.
