Police: Md. man tried to return stolen Home Depot items

GLENBURNIE Md. (WUSA9) -- A Maryland man has been arrested for taking merchandise from a Home Depot and trying to return them.

Teddy Macey, 54, of Severna Park, has been arrested and charged with the theft scheme.

On May 22, a Loss Prevention Officer reported that a man took more than $500 worth of items from the shelf and tried to return the items, without a receipt, using a Maryland driver's license, according to police.

The cashier copied the man's information and denied the transaction. The suspect left the store with the stolen merchandise, according to the press release.

Police say, on April 4, Macey attempted to commit four other thefts, totaling over thousands of dollars, at the same Home Depot located at 66 Mountain Road.

After video surveillance helped police identify the suspect and on July 2, police located Macey's vehicle during a traffic stop, according to the press release.
