Police: Man found dead on trail was High Point HS graduate

LANGLEY PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man who was found dead on the Northwest Branch Trail on Saturday night has been identified as 19-year-old Akinley Osasa Warner.

According to Captain Stanley Johnson with the Maryland National Capital Park Police, Warner was a graduate of High Point High School.

Johnson tells us that at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Prince George's County police received a call about a man down on the Northwest Branch Trail. Both Maryland National Park Police and Prince George's County Police officers responded to the scene. Officers saw the body of a black male with trauma to the upper body and showing no signs of life, according to Johnson. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are investigating the incident as a homicide but have not provided suspect information or motive for the crime.
