Police: Man charged with attempted murder after setting pregnant girlfriend on fire

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD (WUSA9) - Detectives charged 34-year-old Laquinn Phillips with attempted murder for intentionally setting a pregnant woman on fire at her home in Capitol Heights on Friday.

Phillips is from the 2100 block of Ridgecrest Court in Southeast Washington.

Police said Phillips and Grinage had been in a romantic relationship.

Police and fire officials responded to a home at 1405 Elkwood Lane in Capitol Heights just before noon Friday. They found Grinage had critical burns covering a large part of her body.

Grinage and her newborn baby are both in critical condition.
