Police ID victim of homicide in Anne Arundel Co.

CROWNSVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County Police are investigating a homicide in Crownsville on Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Benjamin Delano Kirby, Jr. of Annapolis. Police say Kirby was a local cab driver.

Police say they responded to the area of Honeysuckle Lane near Generals Highway at approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday for the report of an unoccupied taxi minivan. The caller told police that the vehicle appeared suspicious and the meter was running, according to officials.

Police say they found blood and signs of a struggle inside the vehicle.

Officers checked the area on foot and found the body of an adult male suffering from upper body trauma on a driveway near the intersection of Honeysuckle Lane and Generals Highway.

At this point, no motive has been established and it is unknown if this was a random or targeted incident.
