Police ID man found dead on Md. trail

COTTAGE CITY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police found a dead man suffering from gunshot wounds on the Anacostia River Trail in Cottage City, Md. early Saturday morning.

Prince George's County Police Department and the Maryland-National Capital Park Police Department are investigating the death, authorities said.

Police have identified the victim as 20-year-old Everett Robert Brown of Cottage Terrace in Brentwood, Md. Brown was found on the trail around 6:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Authorities are still working to determine a motive and identify a possible suspect. They will canvass the area close to the trail Sunday afternoon, police said.

Police are offering up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest in the murder.
