Police: Drunk driver in Taco-Bell drive-thru pretended to be cop

SEVERNA PARK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County police have arrested a man who they say drove drunk through a Taco Bell drive-thru and pretended to be a police officer.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, police say they arrived to the Taco Bell in the 500 block of Ritchie Highway to find 47-year-old Robert Knickerbocker repeatedly blowing the horn of his Mercedes 300D.

Police say he ordered food but refused to pull up in the drive-thru. He then began to act in a belligerent manner by blowing on his horn and cursing.

After detecting alcohol on his breath and noticing that his eyes were glassy and his speech was slurred, police say they asked Knickerbocker to get out of the car.

Knickerbocker then told police that he was an officer with the Maryland Natural Resources Police. Further investigation revealed that he was not a police officer.

Police conducted a series of field sobriety tests and say Knickerbocker performed poorly. He was arrested and issued five traffic citations and charged with DWI and impersonating a police officer.
