Police arrest suspect in murder of Hyattsville man

BLADENSBURG, Md. (WUSA 9) -- Prince George's County Police have arrested and charged a suspect with the July 2 murder of Larry Nathaniel Williams of Hyattsville, Maryland.

Police say the suspect, 26-year-old Nathaniel Jamar Johnson, of Bladensburg, Maryland was arrested in his home on Friday morning and charged with first and second degree murder.

Police responded to a shooting on July 2 at about 9:15 p.m. in the 5000 block of 57th Avenue in Bladensburg. At the scene, they found Williams, the 22-year-old victim, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

Johnson is currently in custody at the Department of Corrections on a no bond status, and police say a preliminary investigation showed that the shooting in July stemmed from a previous argument between the two men.
