Officers who shot MD man that stabbed himself ID'd

ELICOTT CITY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Howard County Police have identified the two officers who shot a man who had stabbed himself on Wednesday.

Police Officer First Class Daniel Young, age 33, and Police Officer Lara Bradshaw, age 25 were the officers involved with the incident, Howard County Police said Thursday.

Officers Young and Bradshaw were responding to a suicide-in-progress in the 7600 block of Coachlight Lane when the incident occurred, police said.

Officers were let into the home by family of the subject, police said. When the officers tried to administer aid the subject confronted them with a knife, at which point both officers fired their weapons, police said.

Both officers are on paid administrative leave while a standard investigation is conducted police reported.
