New primary investigator assigned to Stacy Hoffmaster case

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- A new primary investigator has been assigned to the Stacy Hoffmaster homicide investigation.

Stacy Lynn Hoffmaster, age 15, was reported missing in October of 1996. Her body was discovered in a wooded area in December of 1996.

The investigation into Hoffmaster's murder has remained an active investigation since 1996, according to police.

The primary investigation in the case, Detective Mike Morgan, has retired and has reassigned the case to another senior detective.

Detective Kevin Forrest is a 12-year veteran of the Frederick Police Department and has served in the Criminal Investigations Division for the last five years, and will continue the investigation.
