HYATTSVILLE, MD (WUSA9) - The mystery remains of who killed Matthew Murrey on Tuesday in Hyattsville, Md.
Friends describe Murrey as a kind soul who impacted everyone he met.
The fatal stabbing happened Tuesday afternoon on Newton Street. Prince George's County Police were called for a welfare check and that's when they found Murrey dead inside his apartment.
Police say that the evidence at this point, there's no evidence that this is a hate crime. Murrey was active in the gay community. On Thursday, friends flooded Facebook to show their respect to him and how much they will dearly miss him.
Police say there is no suspect at this point, but they are following strong leads.
