Multiple arrests made during ICC traffic stop

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Multiple people were arrested on the Intercounty Connector in Montgomery County following the report of an assault in Germantown.

Traffic cameras around 2:15 p.m. showed at least 5 people on the side of the road with their hands behind their backs.

Montgomery County police say this began as a report of an assault in the Germantown area. A lookout was broadcast for a black SUV seen fleeing the scene of the reported assault. Police say it was spotted and stopped on the ICC near Route 182.

Police could not yet confirm if there was a chase, but numerous police vehicles were involved in the stop.

Traffic was slowed by the incident, but most lanes appear open, based on traffic camera footage.
