Montgomery, Prince George's counties ready for storm

Montgomery and Prince George's counties are more than equipped for Monday's snowfall. WUSA9 reporter Nikki Burdine provided the following updates as of 11 p.m.:

Montgomery County

  • Road treatment crews will be activated at midnight
  • Snow emergency starts at midnight, meaning no one can park on snow emergency routes. Cars parked on marked emergency route roads will be towed. County owned parking garages and lots are opened free of charge.
  • 211 call line is open all night and as long as they are needed Monday
  • Salt supply is good, specific numbers unavailable

Prince George's County

  • Salt supply is in good shape, with 11,000 tons on hand
  • Officials say they used roughly 7,000 tons for the last storm
  • County is already over its operational budget, spending $3.6 million to date ($1.5 million budgeted)
  • Crews will be activated at midnight to start treating roads, once there is 2 inches on the ground they will start plowing
  • 250 vehicles are out working 12 hour shifts
