Md. woman arrested for robbing man at knifepoint

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick Police arrested a 36-year-old woman early Sunday morning in Frederick, Md. for robbing a man at knifepoint and making him drive to an ATM machine to get more money.

Police said deputies responded to the 1000 block of West Patrick Street at 1:04 a.m. and learned that the victim had been robbed a knifepoint of his wallet by somebody he knew in the area of 5600 block of Old National Pike.

The victim also told police that the suspect made him drive her to an ATM in order to get more money. Police said the victim contacted an employee of a local business when they got to the bank and asked her to call the police.

Deputies were able to find the suspect and identified her as Tyra Simms, 36, of Frederick, Md.

Authorities said she is being charged with armed robbery, first degree assault, second degree assault, theft under $100, destruction of property, and reckless endangerment.
