Md. state trooper hit by drunk driver in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD. (WUSA9) - A Maryland state trooper was injured Monday night after he was hit by a drunk driver in Annapolis, police said.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Monday in the area near Aris T. Allen Boulevard and Riva Road.

According to police, Trooper First Class Yurkevicha was driving on southbound Route 665 to eastbound Riva Road when he was struck by a Honda Element traveling northbound on Route 665. Police say the driver failed to drive right of the center and hit the front passenger side of Yurkevich’s Maryland State Police marked SUV.

Yurkevich was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center and was later released.

The driver of the Honda Pilot, Michael Osley, was arrested at the scene. He is charged with driving under the influence, reckless and negligent driving and other traffic violations. Osley was not injured in the crash.
