Md. Police:1 dead, 1 critical in apparent concert drug overdose

COLUMBIA, Md. (WUSA9) -- Howard County Police said one person is dead and another is in critical condition after the all-day Mad Decent Block Party at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia Friday.

Police said a total of 20 people were taken to the hospital, 50 alcohol citations were handed out and three people were arrested.

According to authorities, Tyler Fox Viscardi, 20, of Raleigh, N.C. was take to the hospital Friday night and pronounced dead upon his arrival. Police said, his death is connected with a drug overdose. Authorities are still trying to determine what drugs were used.

Police said, a 17-year-old male from Woodbridge, Va. also suffered from a drug overdose. According to police, he is currently at the hospital in critical condition. Authorities do not believe the two victims knew each other.

Arrests were made for domestic assault, assault on a police officer and for intent to distribute marijuana.

Authorities want to remind concertgoers to not use illegal drugs. Police are always at this events, both uniformed and undercover, authorities said.
