MD man arrested in W. Virginia after being found in stolen car

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, W.Va. -- Two people, including a Maryland man were arrested on Tuesday night in St. Clairsville, West Virginia after allegedly being found in a stolen car with four children in St. Clairsville's Memorial Park.

During the late evening hours of Tuesday, an officer located a vehicle with no license plates, and upon approaching the vehicle, noted one man, one woman, and four children inside the vehicle, St. Clairsville Police said.

The officer soon learned the car was stolen and the woman, later identified as Cairon Crews, was arrested while the man, identified as Dwayne Ford, of Waldorf, Maryland, fled on foot.

Ford was later found in Martins Ferry where he was placed under arrest, along with another woman, Amanda Meade, of Martins Ferry. The children were placed in the care of Children's Protective Services.

The Belmont County Sheriff's Office, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the Cumberland Trail Fire Department, the Martins Ferry Police Department and Bridgeport Police Department all assisted in the arrests.
