Md. man arrested for child abuse

EDGEWATER, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police arrested a martial arts instructor for having sexual relations that started in July 2013 with a 14-year-old girl he met during his classes in Edgewater, Md.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department along with the Department of Social Services got a report in October 2013 of sexual child abuse.

According to the police department, a 26-year-old martial arts instructor, Jason Alexander Webb of 704 Childs Point Road, was having sexual relations with a girl he met during his martial arts classes at the East Coast Martial Arts in Edgewater.

The relationship started July 2013 and continued over several months, according to the investigation. Webb was interviewed during the investigation and authorities learned he had inappropriate sexual contact with the 14-year-old girl several times at his place in Annapolis.

Authorities said the case was presented to the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office who requested the County Police Department charge Webb in this case. An application for a statement of charges was present to the District Court Commissioner, who issued an arrest warrant for child abuse, sex abuse of a minor, third and fourth degree sex offenses and second degree assault, authorities added.

Police said, Webb turned himself in February 20.
