Md. firefighters respond to propane delivery truck fire

FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick County Fire and rescue units responded to a propane delivery trucks on fire a little after 1 a.m. Saturday morning in Frederick, Md.

Authorities said the fire happened at the supply yard of AmeriGas in the 1500 block of Tilco Drive. Deputies found the cabs of three propane delivery trucks well involved in the fire.

Firefighters came up with a plan to protect the exposed propane tanks. Authorities said the three trucks in the fire did not have propane on board.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from getting to any hazardous materials.

A total of 25 firefighters helped put the fire out within one hour. The following fire stations helped put the fire out: United, Juniors, Citizens, Independent, Westview and Spring Ridge.

Authorities said the initial damage is estimated at $600,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
