Md. firefighter killed on the job honored in annual memorial service

PRINCE GEORGE'S CO., MD. (WUSA) - A Prince George's County firefighter, killed on the job in 2016, was honored this weekend at the 36th Annual National Fallen Firefighters' Memorial Service.

Lieutenant John "Skillet" Ulmschneider was fatally shot after he entered a home to conduct a well-being check on a person who lived there.

Ulmschneider was part of the Prince George's County Fire and EMS department.

He was one of 75 firefighters who died on the job last year.
