Md. dump truck driver injured after crashing into tree

TRACY'S LANDING, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating a dump truck crash that left a 20-year-old seriously injured in Tracy's Landings on Saturday morning.

Anne Arundel County Police said officers responded to the accident at 7:54 a.m. at E. Bay Front Road between Nutwell Sudley Road and Route 2.

Deputies spoke with witnesses who said a dump truck driver was traveling westbound when he lost control of the vehicle. Witnesses said the truck crossed the center line into the eastbound lane of E Bay Front Road, went over the guardrail into an embankment and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the dump truck was seriously injured and taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma via helicopter. Police said he is currently in stable condition.

No other occupants were in the vehicle. The accident is being investigated by the Southern District Patrol.
