Maryland agencies team up for annual food drive

BALTIMORE, MD (WUSA9) - The Maryland State Police and Maryland Department of Transportation are teaming up with the Maryland Food Bank in Baltimore for a month-long food drive.

Throughout September, which is Hunger Action Month, Maryland residents will be able to donate non-perishable food items at several events planned at locations across the state.

Some of the events in the DC metro area include:

Week-long food drive at Maryand State Police Rockville Barracks

September 5-10

Drop-off hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Stuff A Truck & Safety Seat Installations 

495/95 Park & Ride Located off the exit for College Park, Route 1 

September 17

10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Another key component to this year's event is the Maryland Food Bank's Be a Voice Campaign. The campaign encourages Marylanders to snap a speech bubble selfie and share them through social media to help bring awareness to the issue of hunger.
