LA PLATA, MD (WUSA9) - A Charles County law secretary delivered a baby at Olmsted & Olmsted Law Firm on Tuesday.
"I never thought this would happen," Holly Sanderson said.
She was working at her desk when she heard a woman screaming outside. Sanderson was the only person in the building at the time and she ran out.
"That's when she told me she was pregnant and she was in labor,” Sanderson said.
Sanderson has two kids of her own but no medical training. Sanderson brought the mom inside, who soon began going into labor.
The baby was purple and the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck.
Sanderson unwrapped the cord, likely saving the baby's life.
While many are calling Sanderson an angel and a hero, she said she is the lucky one to have welcomed baby Isabella into the world.
"I really feel blessed," said Sanderson.
Mom and baby are doing well, resting at the hospital Wednesday night.
