Hubcaps on the side of the road mark painful pothole

Monday's pothole patrol took us to Prince George's County where we saw a scene we've never seen before. Viewer Diane Reinhart alerted us to southbound Route 5 just before Surratts Road where she says it's "especially dangerous during rush hour." On our way heading southbound on Branch Avenue, we found a crater in the right lane just before Kirby Road. We also found 4 hubcaps by the side of the road, indicating Diane is onto something.

We reported the offending potholes to the Maryland State Highway Administration. While they don't promise a turnaround time, they say that often they will check out the area within one business day, and many times fix it that day.

WUSA9 will keep checking that section of Branch Avenue to see when the fixes are made.
