High winds down trees and knock out power

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA 9) -- Heavy winds caused some damages throughout the D.C. area Monday night.

Thousands of people were left in the dark after 40-50 mile per hour winds caused power outages throughout D.C., Maryland and Virginia. The powerful winds also uprooted a tree that fell on a home in Montgomery County.
