Firefighters respond to fire in Woodbine, Md.

WOODBINE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Howard County Fire and EMS responded to a fire in the 16000 block of Ed Warfield Road in Woodbine, Md. Saturday afternoon.

Deputies said there were called to the residence for reports of a room on fire. There was heavy fire and smoke on both stories of the home when the got to the scene. The crews were able to put the fire out. Authorities said about 50 firefighters were on scene at the height of the fire.

Firefighters from Montgomery, Frederick, and Caroll counties helped put out the fire. Authorities said the two occupants of the house were evacuated before the firefighters got to the scene.

Authorities said firefighters established a rural water supply and used a cistern off Daisy Road to make sure enough water was available to put out the fire.

No injuries have been reported as of now. Authorities said the house is expected to be posted as uninhabitable later on Saturday.

The fire is under investigation. Damage estimates have not yet been determined, authorities said.
