ODENTON, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County fire crews were on the scene of an apartment fire in Odenton Friday morning.
Officials were dispatched to the 2100 block of Peaceful Way, where they arrived to find the apartments engulfed in flames. Heavy fire could be seen from the third floor and the common attic space of the building.
WUSA9 was told that a total of about 60 firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Fort Meade and Baltimore City were called to the scene.
Officials say that the building was occupied at the time of the fire and multiple residents have since been evacuated.
This was a three-alarm fire. The building has about 25 to 30 apartments, and 10 to 20 of them were damaged due to the fire. The fire caused an estimated $2 million in total damages.
Officials are still investigating the cause of the fire but said there was no sprinkler system in the apartment complex because the structure was built before they were required.
