2 transported, 3 treated after Md. apartment building fire

Dozens of people in Prince George's Co. will be without a home over the holidays because of a huge fire that broke out in the Carriage Hill apartment complex in Suitland.

SUITLAND, MD. (WUSA9) - Two people are being transported to the hospital and three others are being treated at the scene after a two-story fire at an apartment building in Suitland, Maryland on Tuesday morning. 

There was an injured firefighter, but his OK and has returned to duty. 

The fire broke in the 3300 block of Curtis Drive. 

Officials said the fire has extended to the attic and roof with possible extension to adjoining apartment buildings. 

Evacuation tones have sounded and all firefighters have been leave the building immediately.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
