Drunk man refuses to stop walking in Md. roadway

LUSBY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Calvert County Sheriff's Office arrested a drunk man early Sunday morning because he refused to stop walking in the travel portion of the roadway close to Calvert Cliffs Parkway.

Authorities said a deputy was going northbound on Md. Rt. 4 in the area of White Sands Drive in Lusby, Md. when he spotted a man walking in the road.

The deputy approached Christopher Lee Ward, 37, of Prince Frederick and asked him to stop walking, however he continued to do so and pulled away from the deputy.

There was a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, authorities said. He told the deputy he was with friends who left him so he decided to walk home.

Ward was charged with intoxication and endangerment.
