Double shooting leads to barricade situation in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, MD. (WUSA9) - A barricade situation early Thursday morning was caused by a double shooting that happened in Annapolis late Wednesday night, officials said. 

The barricade situation came to an end early Thursday morning, Anne Arundel County police said. 

The shooting happened around 7:49 p.m. in the 1100 block of Madison St. A 41-year-old woman and 36-year-old man were both shot. They were taken to the hospital for their injuries. Police said the woman's injuries are non-life-threatening and the man's seem to be more severe. 

Police said the suspect in the shooting barricaded himself in a home located in the 700 block of Central Avenue in Edgewater. Crews responded to the house around 10:45 p.m. 

Rt. 214 in the area of Oak Lane near Camp Letts was completely shut down to traffic. 

As of 5:15 a.m. the suspect is in custody and the barricade situation is over.
