Cyclist in hospital after being hit by car in Md.

HARWOOD, Md. (WUSA9) -- A cyclist is in the hospital after being hit by a car Saturday morning in Harwood, Md.

Police said around 10:30 a.m. a 1999 Chevrolet was going south on Solomon's Island Road just north of Southern High School when the driver was distracted by other people and hit a bicyclist.

Police said the bicyclist got separated from the bike and hit a guardrail. He was transported to shock trauma with non-life threatening injuries.

The cyclist is expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday.
