PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD. (WUSA9) - The outer loop of the Beltway was closed Tuesday during rush hour just before Branch Avenue in Temple Hills due to a crash that has caused a fuel spill.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. Lanes one and two of the Beltway was reopened Tuesday night. The remaining two left hand lanes remain closed for cleanup. Officials say the two affected lanes are between St Barnabas Road and Branch Avenue.
The fire department said the truck involved in the accident leaked approximately 700 gallons of diesel fuel.
Traffic was backed up to Van Dorn Street in Alexandria.
No injuries were reported.
