KENSINGTON, MD. (WUSA9) - A car was hit by a train after breaking down on the tracks in Kensington late Tuesday night, Montgomery County police said.
According to officials the car broke down on CSX railroad tracks around 11:15 p.m. in the area of Metropolitan Ave. and Edgewood Rd.
Everybody inside of the car was able to get out before the train hit. The train operator had warning, however could not stop in time.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue said one person was transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash caused a fuel leak and brought train traffic to a halt.
Metropolitan Ave. was closed in both directions but has since reopened, officials said.
